HAPPY TEACHER'S DAY


I miss AHS but couldn't go back for we had to settle the printing of photos for Art at bugis ): It must've been really crowded back there!


As for the celebration in SR....

Did a pollock with silver/gold painty markers + a white pen during the teacher's day performance!

No points for guessing which teacher's gonna get the card, haha! (that's the front of the card)



Colours not looking good here. Spoilt my markers during the process but I can always make more of these with my spoilt markers anyway :]

Oh, we cut up the ones with did with paint a few weeks back into pieces and here's a portion!





The performance was fine overall, I didn't pay much attention to it cause I was writing/drawing cards all the way. There was a play by the student's council, and performances by the dance team and choir. At least I was sitting down unlike thanksgiving! OH YES there were rather good cold jokes.


Everything ended at 930, I got really flustered once again so sorry about the very kanchiong tone I adopted. Plus my art mates were up there waiting for me so I had to be quick!

so we went around completing the cards for MsTeo (we drew diagrams on the page with labeling and she seemed to like it alot; rabiah brought her zimbabwe map!), handed the card to MdmTeo (from Annisaa and I), looked for MissKwa in the artroom...

AND TOOK PICTURES WITH VAISH WHO'S LEAVING FOR AUSTRALIA SOON!

In the end, Nadiah Sarah Syairah had to take bus 80 down to bugis to get our photos printed for thursday and friday's mini art exhibition in school. The editing of photos plus everything took pretty long


that's the cool printer used to print our A2 sized photos! Its amazing how a printer works!



I made Anna Lim wait 2 plus hours for me cause of that!!! Think she finished an entire book during the wait. Oh, she got lost and ended up in woodlands instead of pasirris too. HAHHA. I'm still terribly sorry for making you wait so long my dear, good thing you always get lost when meeting me. At least the wait wouldn't seem so long :P


While waiting for the photos to get printed (at a NAFA shop), Syairah & I headed to Art friend (again) to get the mounting boards! Nadiah and Sarah decided to look for us since time was required to print the photographs.

Guess what, I went on a crazy paper-buying spree!! That included COLOURFUL tracing paper, patterned paper, textured paper and cards! Think that stack of paper cost me 11.20 bucks but its worth it! (or so I think) Got myself a tube of white acrylic paint and THE black 0.8 sign pen :]

Had a great time talking to Syairah, dashing across the road, screaming, (me) ranting like some crazy lunatic, (me) being crazy and (us) talking about random stuff yaye :D Oh and thanks for your songs babe!

Great, so I rushed to the mrt station with Syairah (after a quick bite of some redbean pancake) since she had to rush to Orchard and I, Tampines. MET RIANEGOH, VIVIAN, KIATYIAN, HUIKIAN on the way so I squealed and hugged riane goh reallllll tight!

That darling sent me to the traffic light before the library, hehe!! Yeah, so I found Anna sitting comfortably on a sofa when I arrived, a thick book in hand but with just a few pages left O:

Finally had the chance to catch up with her! She even went to subway with me (she normally hates it)! Kaiying and Ashley came over to meet us for FROLICKS and that was awesome with gummy bears thankyou :D

as usual, ashley got her cup noodles and brought it up to my house :] Anna fell asleep on my bed! I don't know why this seems so short but that's about the best part of the day cause I finally got to meet up with Anna and the girls!!!!

Its funny how I used to be so overly obsessed with doing that;
taking photos of everything, keeping even serviettes from a meal with a friend.

Now I don't find that great a purpose in doing that.

If was such a memorable moment, it'd stay with you forever.
Pictures only trigger those memories,
and I think that's the only use of "capturing those moments".


But if you're talking about self-expression, it does bring pictures to a whole new level.



I like the way pictures make me think,
and how a few words can make me ponder.

now THAT speaks my mind.

and because I don't want anything like my words to ruin it.
I don't have the power to make them better unlike some people,
that's why I respect those people.

no room for interpretation

I wasn't making art when I was racking my brains for a composition; a theme. Its supposed to come naturally, more or less.

or when I was spending those sleepless nights trying to colour in the spaces, trying to make things realistic, trying to paint something I wanted to call perfect. Technical errors.

or when I wrapped the canvas in paper, for I was too ashamed to let anybody see that painting.





I realise the thing I hate about my painting isn't just the composition, or the colours, or the slipshod work, or the non-perfect and non-realistic figures, or the painting techniques.

I hate it because it I had not put in effort into it, it doesn't show what I want to say. I hate the theme because it is so cliched and the worst part is that I don't really relate to it. Yeah, I hate it alot because I didn't put in any effort into it and now I don't even feel like putting effort into it. I hate it because it doesn't allow people to interpretate it, when what I really want to create is something meaningful.

But no, I didn't put much thought into it while thinking about the theme and template cause I was in a rush to do other things. Now I really want to throw that canvas away, and paint a completely new one that will make people think, or allow people to understand me more.



I hate it so much. So so much. and its irritating how I'm so good at hating things I do just because I don't deem it as a perfect piece. In fact, I hate that I'm such a perfectionist, that I can find so much to criticize about my own work, be it art, music, or just homework.

Now people are going to look at it and judge it, judge me. They're going to look at something I hate and that's not good. It'll just make me more depressed.

But its not like I can turn back time, so I'm gonna put in more effort into the mini coursework.

Its gonna be a good day cause there's rice paper in the pot! They're those stuff around the white rabbit candy and I really love eating them :]

So we had dinner at Aston's and walked over to katong mall for icecream and chatted till ten plus eleven.

I only had a few seconds to take the photo since the rest were going "ahh emma quickkkk i want to eat the ice cream!!!" and my hands shook, haha.

Awfully chocolate (yes, click on the link!) is in katong mall, near the entrance! One pint of it costs 11.80, which isn't expensive at all if you share it amongst 5 people. There's around 4-5 scoops in it anyway :D They also sell cakes, my brother brought a banana chocolate cake from there once and we fell in love with it instantly!

There are 5 other branches, I'm gonna check out the one at vivo next time! (funny how I never noticed it there)

Heavenly stuff, I've never eaten such chocolatey icecream! Its sooooo smooth and rich in flavour, sweetness level was just right, packaging is a plus point too right? Plus, sharing it with your friends makes it all the better :D

and yup, there were group photos. Missing anna and alicia! :[ I only look fine in the one where (girl in blue) had split bangs so I wasn't given the permission to post it up here LOL. I really look like I'm from PRC hahaha.

It'd be cool if we stayed in the same house! Chaotic, rather. & I'd be the first to contribute to the noise/mess/craziness I'm sure.

29th August 2009 (more boring posts till I get photos, haha)

Been a great day! Still no photos to upload, no time to write whatever I want, plus I don't want to ruin it with words like "awesome" and "great" and "fantastic". So I'm gonna stick to "I liked today".


Day started with GP test, which was fine, maybe. It was about the Malthus theory (which we learnt in geog), but I'm not sure how it'll turn out. Pass, fail, whatever. At least it wasn't my worst performance cause I didn't fall asleep LOL.

Jeslin and C and I got to sit on THE NOKIA BUS!! (bus 80) and I'm so sorry its my first time on it but its so freaking coolll. We sat on the one with the bar table, all the way to BUGIS! you can actually download the music that's playing on the bus?! Met the art chums there and Jeslin went with us to Artfriend too!

We had to leave to meet ms k for the CRAB FLOWER CLUB play at the national library, which was really good in my honest opinion. I don't want to spoil it with words given the limited time I have now. In short, I loved the choice of words, the costumes, the simple props, the acting and poetry of course. It was a good play and well worth the price. Ask me along if you're gonna watch plays next time!

Went to print vinyl stickers after that, I got my bailey's icecream mixed with gummy bears (inserts heart) LOVED THAT. We also went to bugis street and I got what I wanted there :]



yeah short update that totally doesn't sound convincing.

I also met up with Annia ky sy ash at Aston's yesterday, we had awfully chocolate icecream and it was awfully great. Loads of embarrassing stuff happened on that day though, cca, class, everywhere. Even in the restaurant, pulled a fella (with his chair) out while carrying a canvas, what a grand entrance.

major distraction

so we had a GREAT idea today, the both of us are gonna study! You see, since we both have NO discipline to sit down and study (at all), we decided to start this new thing to force us to study:

gonna have little quizzes for each other every (alternate) day, and for every mistake we make 10 cents shall be taken away from our wallet and put into our little studying piggy bank (save the rest for shopping ah!) Its not so much about the 10 cents but the idea of a punishment if you get what I mean :)


Just that I got REALLLYY distracted in the library today and only managed to study 4 or 5 pages. Jeslin the great managed to explain some stuff to me and I'm gonna try to look for my teacher more often. Alrighty, shall go to school at 7 to do geog with her YO!!

Never felt so free in MANY weeks!! No prep board to complete, no photos to edit, nothing to hand in by tomorrow! Think I'd use the time to complete stuff to be handed in on thursday and study abit if I can. That'll make it my first great attempt to study and I'll make it happen YES I WILL! Gosh I'm feeling so so so excited about the japan trip now (9th to 16th dec), STUDIO GHIBLI MUSEUM WOOHOO. Maybe I can get there and eat the CRAB CLAYPOT (sounds abit crude in hokkien hahah, anybody wants to guess??) Better not get a fair conduct grade with all those late coming and not doing work :X we're gonna have loads of meetings, but yay its fine anyway :}


Oh, and I love Monsters inc. and I'll always love it! It was playing on disney channel so I watched it again. Such a touching and cute movie :P The relationship between Boo and "kitty" makes me smile everytime :) and mike too!

Reading about people's view on life; what they dislike/like, what they're uncomfortable/comfortable with, what irritates them what do not - I like doing that, not because I'm a busybody but because understanding these things make me happy (and keeps me occupied)

Friends don't usually say "will you stop that, it irritates me!", because they don't want to hurt your feelings or be seen as a petty person. Or maybe its a fear they don't want anybody to know of? Even putting your hand around someone's shoulder might offend him/her, not everybody thinks its an act of friendliness.

Maybe I've unconsciously offended many people or made them feel uncomfortable/irritated? I don't know. I just know human minds are such complicated things. For starters, I know I'm one of those who think too much.



Still trying to understand why I hate to be misunderstood, why I have such high expectations of certain things, why I'm so impatient when things don't go the right way, and why I procrastinate when I'm not one with a heck-care attitude.

What's scary about being misunderstood - people CAN'T tell you are, because they don't know the truth and what they're supposed to be thinking. Its frustrating because nobody understands you, they think its all your fault when its not. Its not an emotion to be portrayed; its not like anger or sadness where its so easy to tell.

Wrote a timetable yesterday/today like a friend suggested, I'm scared. I really am. I'm afraid I'd regret not studying for the past 6 months. In fact, I'm already regretting but I have no idea why am I still not as hardworking as others, even here. With the rough plan, I realised there's only 5 weeks left, and the assignments are tying me down.


I've got to take the photos PLUS do the editing, do observational studies, edit the canvas (it'll need lots of work), complete art Graphic Organiser, do Art essay, complete a geography essay plan, revise for econs and complete a worksheet, practice maths... All by monday/tuesday (only both essays due on tuesday) so most of them are art stuff, its probably because I WANT to spend alot of time on them for me to feel satisfied. Not happy about my pieces, just satisfied. No, the weekends are definitely NOT enough to complete them.




The only people I talk to are the ones in school, I don't know what happened to communication with some my closests friends (course I'm still talking like usual to a few!). Sometimes I don't even know what to talk about, I don't know what they think of me now, I don't know what they're doing, I'm completely clueless.

sms conversations end without a reply, and I just don't know how to start a conversation with some. "hey, I miss you, what are you doing??" sounds good, but how would the conversation continue? We can't only say "oh, I miss the old days..we did this, that...everything!" because there's gonna be a lack of understanding between us.

Would you think "oh, so now that you've got new friends you don't need to talk to us, what happened to you, you don't even talk to us now! When you needed us, we were there but now that you're fine, where did you go?" Truth is, I've really been busy. I feel like a stranger when talking to you sometimes, really. Or maybe its just because... time is really washing most of our ties away.



Its not helping that I get tired so freaking easily. Do I look like I WANT to sleep in class? I've tried the sweets, doodling, copying notes, nothing works. Nothing. Look what happened today, I slept from 9pm to 3am and 4am to 6am yesterday, ended up sleeping on the bus, during my econs test, during geography lecture, geography tutorial...




Better get to work before things pile up again. I'm so tired now, the people will probably look like shit.

That included doing LOTS of embarrassing stuff like falling off a chair, sending chocolate beans flying into the air, kicking my pouch like a few meters away under a table while running. That wasn't all, I said embarrassing stuff, did stupid stuff, made a fool out of myself several times in school and..

basically I lost my mind on tuesday.




Yesterday was a tad bit better, and I thought over stuff on the taxi. Gosh, I HAD to take a cab to school for two consecutive days cause I can't afford to be down for the early bird program again. Same for last week, so i'm really broke. You have to understand that tampines isn't very near Hougang/Serangoon...



One, I HATE to be misunderstood so I'll do anything to get myself a chance to explain (always turns out to be stupid when I look back at it)

Two, I do not have much patience with myself and others when it comes to getting work done the right way. Yesterday was great because I got myself to put myself in others' shoes and saw things in a new light.

Three, I accept things the way they are because I believe it will always be the best way for me. Might seem bad at the start, but not in the end. Thus I won't try to fight too hard for something, and I go by my instincts.

Since I don't have the time to write, here's (more) great music. Just found out about this English band, Jamiroquai that does Funk/disco/acidjazz/jazz. Anybody wants to tell what "quai" means? There's also clazziquai project, so....?

That's actually my tag for the will run. Whatever you call that chip thing. Was quite exited about joining the nike human race (10k) until I heard about how we'll probably end up walking since there's so many people. I mean there's no point walking 10km D:

& no, its even more pointless to join and NOT go for the run just to get that shirt or whatever goody bag cause it totally makes NO sense to wear that shirt when you didn't even go for the run?!

But then again, there must be a route/way for people to run since there are people who did it in like gay timings so.. we'll see how it goes. Still sounds quite exciting anyway!

Brain's malfunctioning.


Today was simply wonderful; understood maths lecture (thanks to jeslin!), had fun doodling during CT period, transfinity AEP exhibition at old supreme court was kinda inspirational and gave me a pretty good idea on the rigour of A'level art.

Well, I didn't know band had ended by the time we got dismissed from the art exhibition, so I travelled back to school for nothing. At least we found cheapthrills. Jeslin won herself a keychain from that pingpongball machine outside the bubbletea shop while I got myself heavenly butter waffles and an otah :)



Shall get some stuff before getting started on EOM.

Bloody computer

Gosh I miss uploading photos from my camera, but this computer is so irritatingly slow I don't even feel like taking pictures anymore cause I know I'll try to procrastinate and not upload them.

My brother's already got me the ram but its not installed yet. Internal memory is running out of space - I still refuse to delete any songs or photos. Photos can be moved to the external harddrive but the songs can't, just in case I want to listen to them on iTunes. 300gb alot of space, my ass. Firefox is frigging slow now, even opening files can take like AGES.


Why must the photography module be on SURREALISM? It'll involve tons of photoshopping, which isn't even half as fun as painting. Plus my idea is so dumb, I'll probably want to burn my photos at the end of the year. I didn't have the time to brainstorm for ideas at that time and now I can't change it. ARGH.

Yeah, you're talking about photoshopping on my very slow computer here -- makes the process a few thousand times more painful. A billion, maybe.

Just ranting.

The Seal Lullaby

Everytime I listen to The Seal Lullaby, I'll be reminded of the ballet dancer during the concert this year. She was so graceful and gentle, its if she was really picking up something from the seabed with the sand slipping away from the hands. I know I imagined her with soft shimmering lightrays that filters through the waves and of course, baby seals around the icy cool waters. Sometimes I wished i knew how to dance.

Well did I meantion baby seals are my favourite animals? I like them much more than hamsters. With their snowy white fur, big round innocent eyes, chubby little bodies, cute flipperlings and all.

This shade of blue reminds me of the song. A little bit more to the greenish turquoise side but blogger doesn't have that colour. Just in between, you know?

But I wasn't at my best that day, and it always happens during performances. I'll just screw up during performances and examinations but nervousness isn't the cause.

It feels terrible, really terrible. I can't even play the piano in front of my friends sometimes, I think being a perfectionist sucks.

Anyway, you all should really listen to all of Eric Whitacre's works. So amazing.



Meanwhile, I'll source for more jazz and classical pieces. I actually know alot of those nice classical ones, but I don't know where to download them. As for jazz, its time to explore my brother's computer.
